The day was a great success at Lychett Minster School!

Strategic Solutions recently funded a very special event at Lychett Minster School, The headmaster Andrew Mead expresses is thoughts...

"I am writing to thank you on behalf of all my staff and students for funding a visit to the school on 13th March 2016 by the memory guru David Thomas. The day was a great success. It is becoming increasingly difficult for schools to afford special events such as a visit by a renowned speaker. I am very grateful to you for providing the students, teachers and parents of Lytchett Minster School with an opportunity to reflect on techniques to develop their own memory; David certainly had some highly effective strategies to do this. Students often complain that they cannot remember what they have spent hours revising. It will be very interesting to hear how our GCSE and A level students fare this year, following the session they attended with David Thomas. I am confident David’s session will have a positive long term impact. I really liked the model we adopted for David’s visit; we were able to provide one hour sessions for six out of our seven year groups, equating to over 1200 students in a day. The evening session for parents (also attended by students and teachers) reinforced the points made during the day. Getting parents on board is really important. I was pleased that over 100 parents attended the evening session; they will be in a much stronger position to support their children with their revision. The message of ‘visualising’ the information that needs to be remembered is a very helpful and effective technique. The ‘walk around the hall’ technique is particularly powerful and offers a great model that students can adapt within their own context. I do hope Strategic Solutions will continue to support schools in this way. Sponsoring one day events is hugely appreciated. The feedback from students, staff and parents was very positive. Thank you again" Yours sincerely Andrew Mead Headmaster
